IPIECA participated in the recent Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) event in Rio the Janeiro, Brazil; sharing knowledge and good practice. Attendance at IPIECA's stand was high and over 700 publications were distributed. IPIECA members presented on a variety of topics including:

• Biodiversity: Sensitive environments, impact assessment, offsets, alien invasive species, biodiversity action plans, mapping
• Climate change: Greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction, flaring and venting, carbon capture and storage (CCS), energy efficiency, increasing pace of technological development
• Health: substance abuse, food and water safety, fitness to work
• Oil spill preparedness: spills in the Arctic
• Reporting: updating industry guidance
• Social responsibility: human rights, social investment
