The main objective of this engagement is to better understand offsets and related concepts of IFC Performance Standard 6 and ensure the sectors are aligned in their expectations of implementation.
Background
In November 2011, IPIECA convened a workshop in collaboration with ICMM and the Equator Principles Biodiversity Working Group. Thirty one people from a broad range of backgrounds participated in the workshop providing representation from oil and gas, mining and metals, the finance sector as well as experts from the IFC and the Biodiversity Consultancy. Case-study examples and perspectives were shared from the three different sectors. The workshop concluded with an agreement to continue the dialogue to explore ongoing collaboration and engagement process for the three sectors.
